Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference: Boulder, CO

This weekend I am in Boulder, CO for the Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference.

I was so lucky to win a free trip to the conference courtesy of Refuel with Chocolate Milk. It is my first time in Colorado and I am blown away by its beauty. I’m here with Lindsey, Corinne, and Jess who are speaking at the conference about demystifying nutrition myths.

On Friday, we sat in on some talks about monetizing your blog, going from blog to book, and working with companies and PR firms. There was good discussion from bloggers of all types. Bloggers who are just starting out and bloggers who have been blogging for years and now do it full-time.

In between talks, we had a fitness break to get our blood flowing. We did squats and stretching using our chairs. I need to start taking fitness breaks at the clinic. All you need is a chair and a few minutes! Getting up and moving around to break up the work day can help improve concentration and productivity.

Dinner that night was at Whole Foods in Boulder. The prepared foods department put on a “farm to table” dinner for us bloggers.

The tomato strawberry gazpacho was delicious! I have decided that I like fruity gazpacho and not gazpacho that tastes like cold salsa. The shot glasses were a nice touch!

The menu included gazpacho, roasted sweet potatoes with lemon and thyme, tofu spring rolls, grilled veggie pizzas, salad with local radishes and a vegan Green Goddess dressing, and Caribbean tempeh with Polenta. Dessert was a yummy lemon tart with lemon cream, fresh blueberries, and a walnut crust.

As if we weren’t lucky enough to have such great food, we also got this awesome view from the outside patio at Whole Foods.

After dinner, Degree for Women held an after-hours party. They are launching a new initiative for their new deodorant line MotionSense. Motion Sense is a motion-activated deodarant – it kicks in as soon as you start moving!

To promote MotionSense, Degree for Women is launching a Facebook application Get Into the Move, a chance for women to track motion miles and win thousands of cool prizes. Grand prizes include a yoga retreat in Costa Rica, a surfing trip in Hawaii, and a ski trip in the Alps.

If you want the chance to enter their weekly and grand prize sweepstakes, start tracking your motion miles here. Enter the code ‘GetMoving133’ for an extra 5 motion miles. For every person who enters the code, I will rack up a few extra miles as well!

I’m happy that Degree is taking the initiative to get women up and moving!

Can’t wait to see what the rest of the weekend has in store!

You can find myself and others tweeting about the conference using the hash tag #FHBC11.

Peace, love, and food,

Have you been to Colorado before? What are your must-sees?

  1. In Boulder and Denver, there is a restaurant called Mad Greens. If you love healthy foods, this is a place to check out the next time you visit. I cannot eat lettuce that is wilted and old and this is why I love mad greens – fresh greens all the time. Here is the website:
